On May 29, the No.2 Aromatics Extraction Unit of Zhongke (Guangdong) Refining & Chemical Co., Ltd. completed mechanical completion (intermediate handover) at its plant site on Donghai Island, Zhanjiang. On-site construction work of the project has been fully wrapped up, and the unit has officially entered the phases of production preparation, system commissioning and feed trial run.
As a key project of Zhongke Refining & Chemical to boost quality, efficiency and advance oil-to-chemicals transformation, the project involves a total investment of 260 million RMB. It consists of a 500kt/a aromatics extraction unit with supporting facilities including storage tanks for benzene and toluene as well as electrical cabinet rooms. Leveraging the existing 1.8 million t/a continuous catalytic reforming unit in the plant, the facility adopts reformate gasoline as feedstock to separate and produce high-value chemical products such as benzene and toluene. Its by-products including raffinate oil and pentane oil can be fed to the ethylene unit or used for gasoline blending, realizing cascaded and efficient utilization of materials.
