The Baotou Coal-to-Olefins Upgrading Project, supervised by Luoyang Petrochemical Supervision, has commenced construction, featuring 5 sets of 2000-tonne Kellogg gasifiers, with an annual output of 2 million tons of methanol and 750,000 tons of polyolefins. The project has a total investment of 17.15 billion yuan and will have an annual capacity of 380,000 tons of methanol and 135,000 tons of polyolefins upon completion.
The Shenhua Baotou Coal-to-Olefins Upgrading Demonstration Project plans to use coal as raw material, and the gasification process using Kellogg gasifiers, followed by shift reaction, low-temperature methanol washing, and methanol synthesis, to produce 2 mt/a methanol and 750kt/a polyolefins. The project aims to achieve deep coupling development of coal chemicals with green electricity, green hydrogen, and green oxygen by synchronizing planning and construction with new energy. Upon completion, Shenhua Baotou's annual capacity of methanol will be increased to 380,000 tons, and its annual capacity of polyolefins will be increased to 135,000 tons.
