Recently, Iran's Badr-e-Shargh Petrochemical Company announced its desire to build a world-scale integrated methanol project in Chahbahar.
Topsoe has signed a service contract with Badr-e-Shargh Petrochemical Company for the proposed methanol plant with a capacity of 5,000 tons per day, including technology licensing, engineering, proprietary equipment, materials and catalyst supply. The project is also understood to include a 500kt/a methanol-to-propylene plant and other methanol derivatives facilities.
In addition to the planned methanol-to-propylene complex, the Chahbahar Petrochemical Hub includes four ammonia-urea plants, four methanol-ammonia plants, four methanol plants, two aromatics complexes and a melamine plant.
