Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) announced on the Saudi Exchange on January 21 that it has confirmed the final investment decision for its petrochemical integrated project in Fujian, China. The project is jointly promoted by Fujian Fuhua Gulei Petrochemical Co., Ltd. and SABIC Industrial Investment Company.
The project is expected to cost nearly $6.4 billion and is expected to start construction in the first half of this year. Commissioning and start-up preparations are expected to begin in the second half of 2026 and will last six months, with the overall project expected to be completed in the first half of 2027.
The project is planned to include a ethylene steam cracker capable of handling mixed feedstock, with a maximum ethylene capacity of 1.8 million tons per year.
