The total investment of the third phase reached 52.1 billion yuan, including 1.6 mt/a ethylene cracker and downstream, a total of 18 sets of chemical production equipment, public works and supporting facilities. The ethylene cracker to be built is one of the largest in the world.
Seven units of the project use Shell proprietary technology, and four units of the process technology is the first domestic application, including the production of alpha-olefin, synthetic alcohol and synthetic lubricating base oil and other new technologies. The project will also build world-class polyolefin plants and high-end polyether polyols plants.
After the third phase of the project is completed and put into operation, the total ethylene production capacity of China Overseas Shell will reach 3.8 mt/a, accounting for about 8% of China's total ethylene production capacity last year. After post-production and processing, China Sea Shell can provide a total of more than 11 million tons of petrochemical products to the market every year to fill the domestic demand for petrochemical products.
