Lummus Technology announces contract with Silleno LLP for ethylene unit, which will be part of the first polyethylene plant to be built in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The location of the plant, situated within the National Industrial Petrochemicals Park in Atyrau region of Kazakhstan, offers excellent logistics and infrastructure. Lummus' scope of work includes the provision of the technology license, process package design, and training for the new unit, which will convert ethane from the Tengiz oilfield into 1.3 million metric tons per year of ethylene. The ethylene unit will also utilize Lummus' Short Residence Time (SRT) heaters and Lummus' olefin recovery system. These heaters will optimize product yields, with the recovery system potentially reducing equipment by up to 25% compared to traditional systems, thereby improving energy efficiency, lowering investment costs, and reducing CO2 emissions.
