The Emir of Kuwait, Mishal, inaugurated the Al Zour Refinery, marking its full commissioning. At this point, the refinery with the participation of the Refining and Chemical Engineering Group has reached its maximum design capacity, which will make Kuwait the largest producer of clean oil products in the Middle East.
The Al Zour Refinery is the largest refinery in Kuwait and one of the largest refineries in the Middle East, which embodies the advanced engineering technology of Sinopec, has the world's advanced level, and meets the global environmental standards. After the full operation, the refinery processing capacity has reached 31.5 million tons/year, which increases the daily refining capacity of Kuwait by 66%, which is a milestone in the history of Kuwait's petroleum industry.
The refinery project has a total investment of 13.9 billion US dollars, mainly producing gasoline, diesel, kerosene and so on. In the refinery project bidding, refining and chemical Engineering Group and Spanish, South Korean engineering companies formed a consortium to successfully win some projects, undertake 15 sets of oil refining production plant EPC general contract, started construction in 2015.
