Ningxia Baofeng Energy Group Co., Ltd. ethylene acetate project construction site is located in Ningdong Energy chemical base. The project is located in the coal-based new materials Industrial Zone A of Ningdong Energy Chemical Base, covering an area of 10,000 square meters, with a total investment of 429.41 million yuan, including 83.83 million yuan for environmental protection. The project mainly builds 100kt/a ethylene acetate production plant, supporting the construction of tank farm, waste gas treatment facilities, initial rainwater tank, hazardous waste incineration device and other facilities and equipment, circulating water system, waste water treatment facilities, hazardous waste temporary storage room, accident pool, etc. Relying on the existing projects, the production capacity of the project will be 100kt/a ethylene acetate and 300t/a acetaldehyde.
The polyolefin unit of Ningxia Baofeng Energy Phase III 1 million tons olefin project has been put into trial production and the Phase III project will have the ability to produce 250kt/a of EVA for high-end products. The EVA device is expected to be ready for production in January 2024.
Vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) is mainly used in the production of polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH), EVA resin, polyvinyl acetate (PVA), VAE emulsion, vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer, ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer, acrylic fiber and so on. In 2022, the apparent consumption of ethylene acetate in China increased by about 14% year-on-year. In the context of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, the demand for EVA photovoltaic materials is growing rapidly, driving the demand for high-quality vinyl acetate raw materials.
